You know you are addicted when...

Saw this thread on another board, and ever since then, have loved it. So, wanted to start it here to see what you all had to say. Just finish this sentence..

You know you are hooked when...

you spend money on your tank rather then food for yourself.

*from a previous post*
When your water bill is higher than your car payment.

anyway, you get the idea, I would love to see what all people have to say.

OK, here's the test:

You have just received $500 from your tax refund. Your hot water heater just went out; Your car lost a valve and is running on 5 cylinders; the washing machine died; your credit card is maxed out and 2 payments behind; your children desperately need dental work.

Now, the question:
Should you spend the $500 on that new top-of-the-line skimmer or upgrade to MH lights?

You know you are addicted when you go to sleep at night and your dreams are always of a bigger reef tank and what it will look like!

Lately I have been dreaming of winning a huge lottery and cleared $479 million dollars and had a reef tank customed made which was 16 feet long, 4 feet wide and 4 feet deep!

I also made TRT members millionares! Johnny

Hehehehe thats a no brainer, ALWAYS go for more light
You know you are an addict when the spouse tells you" buy one more thing for the tank and I am gone" and you think for a moment, " gee I'll miss her/him"

Well, Duh.

Of course we upgraded to MH! But it was a $600 return, so we threw in an overflow and a couple more MaxiJets.

...when all your friends talk about are "reefers," "shrooms," and the "meth lab" (our plankton station), but mean a totally different type of addiction...

....you use heavy equipment (hammer / chisel) or power tools (dremel rotory) to frag your coral.

...it's so hot in your house you can't sleep, yet all the fans, and AC units are pointed directly at your tank. (current situation )

You admire your tank inhabitants when you should be cleaning the house. Spend almost all waking hours trying to figure out new electronic gadgets for your tank. You go to Home Depot and buy several ballast to "Try them out". You spend way to much time on this board (maybe not)

to the flip side of what NickG said...

You know you are addicted when...

during an ice storm you lose power for two days, and while you shiver with 1 thin blanket, your fish tank has 3 blankets and a 0 degree sleeping bag wrapped around it, and every 3 hours you get up to boil water and stir the tank to keep the temp no lower then 73 degrees.

Yes, I did this when we had our icestorm. And yep, my fish were warmer then I was for a few days. heh heh Thank God one of our stoves in the house was gas! heh heh

When you spend $20 on a cleaner shrimp so your sally lightfoot can eat it, & you eat top ramen while you watch him do it.
