Ylchik's offical 95 corner tank build-

WOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

The time has come to start the offical build.

The plan:
a 95 Bare Bottom pentagon corner tank with a basment 90 gallon sump connected to a 55 gallon frag tank.

Equipment:
BM 200
Velocity T1 return pump
90 gallon sump
mag 3 return pump- for the frag tank
a bunch of maxi jet mods and koralia 3's

Lighting
on the main tank
1 * 250w MH starting with a 12K reeflux bulb
3*24w T5's - color tba

on frag tank
4*54W t5's - color tba

I have everything but my t5's and have started assembling the stand for the basment, well, as I type.

My goal is a lps/sps tank with many colorful fish and corals with great color and decent growth.

Total water volume will be around 200 gallons.

This weekend we are assembling the stand to hold the frag tank and sump and I am continuing to buff the acrylic main display.

pictures to come.

I am excited!!!!!!!

That sounds like a really great plan. Yet again I am jealous of those of you who have basements. Good luck with the build and I will be following it to see how you progress.

Congrats!

For ease of cleaning the sump, could you lift the sump off the floor a few inches? If you're building the stand for it all, that may be something to consider. Say 6-8" would be great.

how about the width of a 2*4

with the 90 being so tall the stand is going to be... well.... really tall already. I will need a step stool to get into the frag tank. That's saying something at my height

Ben is assembling it in the fish/storage room right now!

you've got it super easy on that table

I'll have to use Fly's method of sump cleaning every few months... SHOP VAC!

me antsy... never ( ok always)

The best part is having a place to get the 55 torn down and clceaned up a bit while we take our time with the main display.

Knowing that I can set up the sump and frag tank - as the holding tank goes a LONG way to patience in this thing. I am just dying to get the 55 cleaned up from the long lasting carbon grinding issue.

Tank is cleaned up
stand is cleaned up

Must route top of main display and pray it will still hold water and not bust at the seems

drill sump
put in baffels for sump

get it in position

after that is done I will start the transfer of live stock into the basement until the main display is ready. I will also be cooking my rock at this time.

( I have a batch that has been cooking since Dec. to "replace" what I am taking out.)

then the 55 needs drilled and over flow put in. I am hoping for an over night deal on that. Once that is done the 55 will have a 90 gallon sump and it will hang out in the basment until the main display tank is ready to go.
