yellow tang not so yellow

My yellow tang is eating great and I am feeding him Nori everyday as well as a variety of frozen food. Lately he has lost his bright yellow color. he is more dull. I admit over the last 2 weeks I havent been soaking things in garlc and selcom like I use to. instead of soaking every meal in garlic and/or selcom I know have started soaking it once or twice a weak. He is actually eating more now than he ever did but he just not as yellow.
He is still in quarantine in hyposalinity. Could hyposalinity cause this as well? His feature are changing and his nose is getting longer could He just be mauring into adulthood.

One mre thing.
Ive heard that periodically feeding you Tang Brocolli will help maintain its color. Is this True or False.

Stress can cause a tang to change color. I wouldn't really worry about it too much unless he develops ick.

Lawd i hope he doesnt get Ick again. Seems like im finally over it.
Can a fish develop ick with a salintiy of 1.010?
question #2
When you have freshwater ick why is adding salt a standard treatment.
But with marine ick lowering salinity is a sudgested treatment.
THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO "HMMMMMMM" (I think im sleep deprived)

if the salinity was lowered slow enough I'd imagine the ick parasite could acclimate to it and still survive.

Not sure about the other question but I'm sure someone with more expertise will chime in I'm curious too

my occi clown has also changed into adulthood. She has a brownish back and dorsal fin.she is almost 4 inches. Didnt think occi clowns got that big. when I got her she was all bright orange. She needs a man. I might take my clown to the LFS with me and see if she can pick out a good man with no kids disease free and a good job. Woww I know im sleepy now been up to long

parasites tend to not be able to handle sudden changes in salinity. that is why the extreme dips are suggested for both SW and FW when it comes to ich.

cool. I guess if i do get ick again ill just raise salinity back to 1.025 quickly and then back down to 1.010 within a weeks time

the loss of colour could very well be due to the very low salinity you are keeping your tank at. 1.010 is even less than what Brackish is.

why so low?

I thought that was the level most people keep in hypo.
what is the recomended salinity then?
you mean i can pop in a couple goldfish to keep my tang company at this point. (not gonna do it 4 real)
I used this website to determine my treatment for black ich.
http://www.petsforum.com/personal/tr...osalinity.html
After i treated for 2 weeks with copper at 1.025. I ran carbon and lowered my salinity hoping to prevent reinfestation. So far so good. (its my hospital tank)
