Hi Everyone! My best friend bought me a yellow tail cleaner wrasse "yellow tail wrasse" because a few of my fish had ick. I really didnt want it because I know they dont last long in tanks but because he had already bought it and he felt he was helping I took it. Yesterday I noticed it was nipping my corals at first I thought maybe the corals have parasites then I could tell he was eating the corals. I called the pet shop and they reassured me that they were reef safe. Well today he was still at his nipping so I googled yellow tail wrasse and found this site
www.zipcodezoo.com and come to find out these wrasse are def not reef safe. I tried to catch him again but he's really small and my tank is a 150 full of live rock. I placed my frogspawn under a plastic bottle with holes hoping that will help. I would try the bottle trap but he doesnt seen to like any of the food Ive offered. I hope this saves someone trouble down the line. Even if someone tells you they are cleaner wrasse and they are reef safe they aren't.
Thanks
Patrick
