yellow sea whip (gorg) shedding?

it looks like it is shedding its skin. all the polyps are still out and open but the skin seems to be peeling off. other than that it looks great. any one ever heard of this????

not a good sign. the brightly coloured gorgonia are not photosynthetic and need to be fed. this is not easily done. most of these do not make more than a few months in captivity.

pics would help.

yea, the purple ones are the photosynthetic and the red/yellow/orange are the non-photosynthetic versions.

i have 2 purple ones. one is super fuzzy the other has not opened up in a few days. i have had both for at least a month now.

My puple one is also fuzzy when open. I have had mine for over 6 months and it is doing well. They do shed though so that may be why yours is not opening now.

I have a red one, for about a month now. It opens its polyps when I feed cyclopeeze and phyto with the lights on. Hopefully it will stay that way.
