yellow fiji leather question
I ordered one of these from my fish store; it came in very bright yellow, but was shaped suspiciously like a toadstool. i took it home, and it slowly lost color and has now faded to a very washed out tan color. what gives?
all the fijis ive seen pictures of dont have a long stalk, and have a very ruffled edge, and are bright yellow. can anyone confirm they have one that has remained true to that description over time? if so, I would like to try to acquire one again...

yellow fiji leathers are hard to keep. they will lose color if they are not supplied with enough light. what type of lighting do you have?

I think I have the same thing you have... looks just like my other toadstools.
I think maybe as it gets bigger it will get that ruffled look
As for colour mine also faded but I assumed it was due to inadequate lights.
Hope it brightens up when I get better lights

I think you may have purchased an artificially died one. May want to check with your LFS.

my lfs is shady, theyd never own up.
they are good in some ways and not good in others, ive learned to accept it. no matter what store i go to, they have their pros and cons. too bad theres not one that has it all...
at least I got it at a good price...i guess if i had paid more, I might squawk a little.

I got this one two weeks ago. Its pretty small but has the ruffled edges. In keeping with it's difficulty, of the four they got in at the lfs, mine is doing fine but the other three started sagging and didn't sell and are now dead.

this is just my opinion but I think maybe misidentified
I could be wrong but to me the "polyps" on the one myself and yardboy have are shorter and have a fuzzier appearance
yours looks more like other sacros with longer polyp
(polyp isnt the right word here is it? what are they called?)
