Xenia Problem

So I've had some Xenia in my 75g for about 3 weeks now with no problems. Last weekend I put some frogspawn in and I think it was a little too close. I saw it stinging the Xenia about a day later, so I moved it away of course. Now all the sudden my Xenia is shrivled up and real small. Do you think its dead from the stings?

Water params.

salinity .022
Nitrates none
Nitrites none
Ammonia none
Phosphate .5
Calcium about 400
Alk about 11
Ph 8.4

Frogspawn may have got it...althought Xenia will normally come back out...what concerns me more is your SG...1.022 is ok for FO, but pretty low for corals...I would slowly bring it up to 1.025~1.026.

my fish could care less whether they are at 1.018 or 1.026. My corals on the other hand tend to like it higher. Closer to .026. I do however keep my FO tank at around .018 and they thrive.

Xenia is a weed IMO. it should come back for you as long as the water isn't TOO clean and there is decent flow for it

Xenia thrived for ME in dirtier water and medium-fast flow. Seems like it preferred strong lighting too but I know others have had all sorts of varying conditions for Xenia.

Just to reiterate...raise it slowly...1.026 is a good target if you are keeping corals...but raising your SG too quickly can stress your fish...Also how are you measuring SG?...most of us start out with the cheap swing arm hydrometer...they are notoriously inacurate...I still use one most of the time, but I know it reads .003 higher than it really is because I also have a fancy digital SG meter...If you don't have one already, invest in a refractometer to measure SG...You can get a decent one on eBay pretty cheap.

True...I have some Xenia in a back corner of my tank where the lighting is a little dim...it is not doing as well as the other patch that is in full light.
