WS Maroon Clown - Mated Pair - Where can I buy them?

I have searched to web, emailed livestock distributors, and talked to 3 LFS about obtaining a mated pair of White Stripe Maroon Clownfish, but nobody seems to know how I can get them.

If anyone has any information that would assist me in my search it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

"They start out as males when young. If bought as a pair, the more dominant of the two will change physically into a female, and they may become a mated pair for life. The less dominant one remains a male, which is usually considerably smaller, but usually more brightly colored. If kept alone, the lone clown will become female on his own."

this info may help you to 'obtain' a pair!

I just called. The owner said they have some in stock. I'll probably order within the next 2 weeks and I'll let you know how it goes.

Again, thanks a bunch for the tip!

I might be interested. How old are they? Have they spawned? Do they spawn regularly? Why do want to part with them? Where do you live (approximately)?

I have read that the WS maroon have a better temperment than the YS maroon clown! Don't know if it's true or not unless someone out there knows!

You can check AnchoFish they have wild caught ones for 50.00, Aquacon has them for 55.00. Now for the bad news....they dont ship well that large and being wild caught as such there will be no "Live Arrival" guarantee to go with it in many cases. So far the three fellow reefers that I know have tried it got only one alive. Only one of the three was able to sucessfully pair them up with another fish.
After trying to no avail for the the last 4 months to get a pair through my LFS, I finally had to just suck it up, break down and get two small ones that werent trying to kill each other and go the long route. Hopefully things work out. I was really hoping I could cut to the chase and just start out with a M/L pair already mated up.
This is just been my experience thus far on this little issue, yours may be different, and hopefully better. Either way, Good luck!!!

You know, i heard the same thing, but haven't noticed any aggression out of mine. I put my hands in the tank and as if nothing most of the time. They've never bitten me, and ive had them for about a year. They are still small, although they are obviously past the juvenile stage. The females is about twice the size of the male. To match them up all i did was buy one, went to another LFS and bought a smaller one. Came home, threw them in (acclimated of course) and walla!!! They got along from the start. Although they have never spawned, im thinking another inch for each of them and theyll be mature enough? Im no expert, just my opinion. Ive always have had good luck with pairing them up, so who am i to complain right? Im not in any hurry to sell, but if someone is REALLY interested and the price is right, then so be it. If not, then thats ok too. Good luck lookin for the w/s ones... Hope ya find some... (and you get them live).

P.S. I live near Portland, Oregon
