wrasse

As is so often the case when you surf the web, Ive gotten conflicting info. Some sites say a wrasse must have large quantities of live microfauna to survive and other say flake food. Is a middle road of regular use of freezedried worms and shrimp OK?

What kind of wrasse?
I have a 4line (very similar to 6line) he eats pellet and various frozen that I feed plus he hunts.
He seems fat and happy...

Thanks Cosine

The fourline is one I was looking at but when I found http://www.vividaquariums.com/10Brow...=Fish%3AWrasse

I couldnt believe I didnt know about these incredible fish before. Imbasically looking at the types of wrasse that are moderately priced, wont kill my shrimp and are easy to moderate to care for.

If you (or anyone) knows of I should avoid I would appreciate the input. My tank isnt anywhere near the point of supporting a fish like a mandarine dragonette and I just cant let things slowly starve.

Thanks

How big is your tank?
the 4line and 6 line stay small but can get mean at times. Mine killed a clown. I htink it sensed weakness or soemthing. The clown got beat up a few times by another clown before. That said the wrasse doesn't look twice at my royal gramma.
Looking back I may have avoided this guy in exchange for some more peaceful wrasse.
There's lots to chose from. Take a look at the fairy and flashers. I like the banded possum wrasse too. The only thing with the flashers is that I hear if you only have one its colours will fade overtime.
But then again the lined guys are super active and great to watch. They hunt the rocks all day long.
well HTH somewhat
goodluck
what other fish do you have/plan to get?

Right now the only thing I have is a yellow tang (I cycled the tang with mollies and got him for $2 when I ordered my inverts). My plan is a couple of false peculas, some blue chromis and now some wrasse. Also my plan for introducing new fish into my tangs tank (yes she does see it that way) is to move the rocks a couple of times before they arrive and then when I put them in, and turn off the lights.

Please let me know if you see any flaws in my plan?

That should work fine. I tried unsuccesfully that plan with a pseudochromis. But thosethings are a whole different level of mean. With a change in rock work as long as you have enough hideouts for the wrasse to keep away from the tang they should be okay.

Any of the reef-safe types all should make a model citizen for your tank. A healthy wrasse will eat just about anything they can get to, many are shy feeders and often greedy fish (like big tangs) will get all the food before they can get to it. I feed nothing but Omega One Flake to my fish. Omega One contains no fishmeal, only fresh Alaska seafood, IMO the best flake you can buy hands down.

My greyhead wrasse hunts live food from the tank, the rest of the fish stalk him hoping to snatch op some scraps!
