Would this work for safe water storage?

Hey, just a quick question here mates.

Would a blue water cooler bottle work for safe RO/DI water storage? Can it leech anything into the water?

Not exactly this bottle, but similar: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000IVQP00?...0&linkCode=asn

Cheers

If it's for drinking, it's reasonably safe to assume it's ok for water storage for the tank.

I think they would be fine for SW storage.

As long as it is new and not had anything toxic in it, it should be good.

I would rinse anything I'm going to use, even new jugs, thoroughly before storing water in them. Some of the manufacturers put an oily slick on the interiors of plastic jugs/bottles....just in case!

That seems like a lot of money for what it is.

Why not go with a brand new trash can that will store 30 gallons or more for less than $20? Just make it doesn't have any anti-mildew.

Thanks guys, yes it will be brand new, I found one at my grocery store for $5-$6. Design is a bit different and bigger than 3gallon. The problem why I can get a trash can is because I live in an apt. and I don't have much space, and a bottle like this would perfectly fit into under the tank to be used with ATO.
