Worm ID Please...

Hi Guys...

We finally finished setting up and cycling our new 800lt tank...YEAH..!!!
We had to buy a far bit of new live rock, since as how the old tank was
only 160lt and this little critter made his way out of said new rock...he
was sitting on my bi-coloured blennies shell, till the blenny, in no uncertain
terms, pushed him over the edge...I was just wondering if anyone know if
he is friend or foe...hes sorta brownish/grey in colour, extremly hairy and
about an inch and abit long, and rather fat...

cheers...
JO...

There are many different tiny little bristle worms in reef tanks. I normally don't sweat it, but that one looks like a fire worm. Only it's not red. If it was my tank he would have to go. With all the different species it may be very hard to get an exact ID on this worm. I would evict him before he has a chance to cause problems.

its too late to piff him out now...once the blenny bumped him from the rock, he crawled across the bottom and disappeared under the rock work...the tank is 6 x 4 by 30 in deep, so Ive got bucklies chance of retrieving him now...
