WON Titanium Wand heater alternatives

I have been hearing from a lot of people on different boards who are have issues with their Bothers WON Titanium Heaters and I was wondering if any one has used similar products and what their experiences have been. Some of the alternatives are as follows:

Via Aqua Titanium Tube Electronic Heater

Jalli Titanium Heater With Temp Controller

JST Titanium Heaters

List more if you know of any and your experience with them. I am trying to narrow down the most reliable Titanium Wand heater.

I personally have been using 2 Won 150W Titanium Heaters in my sump/refugium and the only complaint that I have it the thermostat dial is real touchy and if a breeze blows on it you have to reset the dial. One other issue that I am having is that when both heaters are on the same receptacle or surge bar one of the IC fires up the other. If one is going on strong and the other is off the on light with dim up when the other one is on. I don't know if this something or not.

I just bought a Medusa HC-150 3-Digit heater and chiller temperature controller. Which once it is set up you turn your heaters to a temp you want your tank to be and set the controller to the same temp and the Controller will shut off and turn on your heating elements in your tank to that set temp. If your temp goes above or below and will give you an alarm warning you of problems. I look at this as an added bit of insurance for your tank if the thermostat in your wand heaters fails and goes from balmy 81 degrees to 100+ your temperature controller which is a separtate component will automatically shut down the power to your heaters and sound an alarm before frying your tank. No matter what wand heater you use there is always the possiblity or potential of a unit failing and with a separate controller you have back up redundancy in place saving your tank from becoming soup.

I have two Via Aqua 300 Watt Titanium heaters, and I am very happy with them. They have a remote sensor, and a remote dial/light on them.

I've been running them both for about 3 months, they maintain the tank within a 1/2 degree.

why mess around

I would have to say, go with a Ebo-jaegar. You will not be sorry. I have had one for a couple years, another that I just got, and have a friend that uses them exclusevly. He has many that are over 10 years old, and they are still rock solid on temp. He also told me that they have never cooked his tank! You can get them online for about $26 shipped

I am currently using a Jalli controller and a Jalli 300 watt probe.

The features I like are:
Controller rated for up to 1,000 watts
Cntrl has approx 5' power cord -- so cntrl can be mounted away from wall socket.
Cntrl has appox 4' temp sensor cord.
Dial is accurate to about 1 degree.
Tank temp only flucuates 1/2 degree -- but I think i could get that even less if I mounted the temp sensor in different location.
Cntrl could use any brand probe or you could cntrl any brand heater for added failure protection.
Jalli probes have an overheat protection circuit in case of dryrun.
Moderate price range.

Features that could be improved:
Dial is sort of large so be carefull where you mount it so you don't accidently bump the temp up/down.
No digital diaplay --- I got a Rainbow BIG Temp display to solve that.

WIth the many, many heaters I have tried in the past I have never had reliable success out of any conventional heater. And for me having to replace on a regular (2 years or so) basis is failure. I have only had success with electronic cntrl/titanium probe. The last one I had was a 200 watt on a 10 gal nano and it gave perfect performance.

My current Jalli has been up and running for only 3 months now so time will tell.

I have one of the 150 Watt Titanium heaters in a 10 Gallon Rubble Tank and I am finding that the Won Titanium Heaters are more accurate in smaller tanks and tend to drift in larger gallons of water.
