i will be moving my fish and corals to a ten gallon tank until my new tank cycles and i dont have a way to hang the light ...i have a 28 watt coralife aqualight that i planned on using to light it for the duration of the cycle..would my candy canes, torch, zoanthids and button polyps be ok with this light for that amount of time?there under a lumenarc mini with 175 halide at the moment..what do you guys think?-drew

how long are you considering this solution? I'd say if it's more than a week, you'll want to find another solution.

How did you wind up with fish, corals, etc. and no cycled tank? Is the 10 gallon cycled? How could the 10 be cycled but the other isn't. Personally I wouldn't cram my LS in a 10 gallon for any reason. Is there a LFS you have built a relationship with that might stock them for you till the new tank is cycled? If not I'll pay for Fed-ex and you can send them all to me! Best of luck.

Yea, you should be fine. Toss a couple pieces of cycled rock in there and call it a QT for a week or two

What are you putting into the new tank that will cause a cycle? Adding a bunch of stuff? If it's just a transfer, there is no cycle to be expected.

My opinion... no... but I have heard of other people using some good stuff and having a completely cycled tank in like a couple days. There is a LFS in our area that used this stuff : http://www.drtimsaquatics.com/ to start up the tanks in his store and backs it 100%... just something to keep in mind.

I don't think you will personally from adding dry rock to the tank. Do yourself a favor and soak the dry rock in some saltwater a few days prior to the switch, if there is any smell them don't add it to the tank with any inhabitants
