Will styrofoam work?

Here is another question for the master's. i put the 135 in the basement for a sump. I had an extra Little Giant 3900 gph for the pond. I put it in the sump and man does it throw the water.

Problem. It vibrates against the glass. Will styrofoam break down if I use it for a cushion?

Thanks, Chris

how about looking into that foam pipe insulation they use on water pipes and such I think the styrofoam would break apart in a short period of time.

just my thoughts.

I would try the mpouse pad, or maybe a piece of the ensolite foam(clased cell, used in the thin backpacking pads.
If all else fails try suspending it just off the bottom of the sump with a clever array of zip-ties

The Styrofoam will start to squeek before it breaks down, I dunno which is worse. The mousepad is a great idea, or use the stuff the Dr. Shohl's makes for shoe liners, either one is durable and will do the job, although I like Dug's idea. I have an image of this jungle gym arrangement of zip ties...

LOL, use a New mouse pad or insole, super glued to the bottom of the pump base, should work for most vibrations. another vibration damper is to use appropriate sized tubing between the barb fiting on pump outlet and the pvc piping. Direct connect rigid plumbing can set up and magnify vibrations to the annoying level . The zip tie method should be easy, once you find somthing to anchor it to, use just enough to suspend the pump off the sump floor, between no glass contact and flex coupling to the return piping that should do the trick
