Will Pruning Xenia make them grow faster?

I have a small forest of Xenia on one side of my tank. There are a bunch of nice, thick stalks and they are doing great. However they seem to have reached a climax and aren't spreading too much or growing much larger. If I go thru and prune a bunch of them, will they grow back faster? Anything else I should try?

Thanks.

They will grow back, I don't think it will cause them to spread faster unless you take the cuttings and place them somewhere else in the tank. If you cut them down the lumps will reform into new colonies. If the large colonies are not splitting or moving and leaving clones I would leave well enough alone unless your looking for a reason to trim it back.

One thing you might want to consider is the stories of people who've had their Xenia "climax" just as you're describing and then suddenly crash for no apparent reason. Me, I'm steady pruning mine whenever they get too large colony, mainly to give away fags and also to export nutrients.

Thanks Yardboy. Mine have been about the same for quite a while now; no crash yet (knock on wood). Maybe I'll just start pruning and see what happens. Thanks everyone!
