Will it ever drop????

Here is the situation:

I have been using Randy's 2part for about 2 weeks now. After 1 week of use I tested my levels and notice Ca was good. 410ppm. However Alk was 4.69 - 4.80 meq/L.

So I continued with the Ca addition but have not been using the Alk solution for the past week. Last night I tested again and the results were
Ca 420ppm and Alk 4.69-4.80 meq/L.

Why has my Alk not dropped? pH has been steady @ 8.3. Any suggestions?

How are you testing?? What brand of test kit?

What kind of salt are you using and how often are you changing your water??

I have heard a couple reports lately of Instant Oceans alk being very high.

I would suggest doing a 30-50% water change and see what that does to your alk, but dont do that before testing your freshly mixed ASW, as if it is higher than the 12-13dkh (or even higher than 9 for that matter)or so your reading now it obviously wont help.

As Fly suggested I would test the ASW first to see if this is where the extra Alk is coming from.

Salifert Kits and Instant Ocean Salt.

That would explain things cause I just did water change on the weekend.
