Why is my Tang wearing lipstick?

When I got home last night I noticed that my Yellow Tang's mouth has turned black. It seems to be just on his 'lips'. I can't see that he has been eating anything black, and he is still just grazing happily on the rock and glass. Very odd.
Any thoughts?

Weird, it doesn't look like he's got an infection does it? Maybe he is going to a Marilyn Manson concert.

Red face

Maybe it is going through a sexual identity crisis??? A cross-dressing Tang? Oh my... No idea what it could be really. Maybe it got ahold of a piece of carbon??? Have you lost any pellets lately? If you find out, let us know and don't leave any Vicotria Secrets Catalogs around or he might end up costing you a bit more than you thought. We had that problem wtih Drew awhile back.......

Who's to say my tang isn't a girl? I never flipped it over to check
It doesn't appear to be an infection, it just looks dyed. I don't use carbon, so I am pretty sure that isn't it. Maybe it is some sort of infection, since it was still there last night. It doesn't seem to bother the fish, he is still eating fine, and plump. I just don't get it.

As far as Drew goes, there are so many things that are just begging me to say them, so I won't.

Wink

At least your tang doesn't have a "rubberband coming out of his butt!" I still about fall over laughing thinking about that thread.

I have no idea what the black stains could be

Could it be bruising, perhaps after being startled and slamming into the glass? I don't know if fish would show bruising like that or not. Just a stab-in-the-dark speculation.

LOL! I was going to mention my Tang going goth, but I didn't know who would get it!

I suppose if I didn't trade my camera for a skimmer I could have taken some pics of it, but I am going to have VERY clean water in about a week!
