Thanks for the help Mr P with my filter order

Me, too, biowheel. Mine's scheduled for delivery tomorrow. Although, UPS probably could have delivered it to me today if they only put in half an extra effort. However, I've found on numerous occasions that UPS will let a package sit around at their processing center rather than deliver it a day earlier than scheduled. Jeez!
Which unit did you get? I ended up ordering the 100gpd unit by mistake due to a lot of misunderstanding on my part. For whatever reason I thought I remembered Tony and Randy recommending the 100gpd over the 150gpd. I suppose I should have re-read some of the posts here before clicking the checkout button. Oh well, I hope I'll still be happy with it. Although, I ordered the combo package that includes the tank and faucet, which I hear Tony is calling a P.O.S. in another thread. Man, I just can't get anything right, can I? I also ordered their TDS meter. I'm sure that'll turn out to be another mistake!
Well, at least I know for sure one of Tony's and Randy's other recommendations for the PWC RO units: make sure you buy a good roll of electrical tape to help fix all the leaks!
(I know it's really teflon tape.)

I doubt you will ever see a real issue with the 100gpd. When it comes time to replace the filters, you put 150gpd filters in them with a 150gpd regulator. The regulator is about 6 dollars. Not an expensive fix at all.

I think Randy just had some issues with it . I don't think you made a bad purchase . I got the 6 stage 100gpd . I think we will both be fine .

Filterdirect is the one I got mine from. The only difference that I can see between this one and mine is that one has an auto-flush and mine didn't. The only two issues I had with mine was the storage tank didn't work properly but I think that was because I never re-pressurized it. The other issue was that the DI is horizontal and it would channel. As soon as I turned it vertically, no more issues.

I dont understand why you would be worried about some negative feedback on e-bay over what people here are saying. At least here you can ask me exactly what I think of them.
I got one of the leaky units and I'm still saying to get the purewaterclub unit.
Also, the guy has almost 1800 positive comments and only 10 negative comments in 12 months. That's a half of one percent negative.

Ebay feedback has become a joke and should be taken as such.
Negative feedback can mean anything at all and doesn't always mean what they posted that it means. It can be anything from not giving a refund to a bad product, misadvertised product all the way to "I don't like the way you answered my email" (Ask how I know that one). The lady sent me 12 emails on a lego person. The lego person is 1.5" tall, she sent 12 emails. Didn't like the speediness with which I answered them. She won the auction and left negative because of "untimely and rude email practices". The emails were answered within an hour of being sent. It took me two months to get that feedback removed but in doing so, I had to drop my negative feedback on her for cancelling payment on the auction (she got to keep my 99 cent Lego man as well). Now, I very very seldom pay attention to feedback on Ebay, it doesn't mean anything anymore.
No, Ebay feedback doesn't mean a thing.
I bought my RO/DI unit from an Ebayer and left positive feedback even though it took me almost 3 weeks to get it. I called to pay for the unit on the telephone with a credit card, couldn't understand the lady. Then they screwed it up, had to wait 4 days before I could pay for the thing. All in all the transaction itself sucked but the unit was worth it. I didn't leave negative feedback because almost ALL Ebay sellers won't leave you feedback until you leave them feedback. That doesn't happen now because you can't leave buyers negative feedback anymore and that was a result of Ebay cracking down on the feedback extortion.
OK, back to the RO/DI discussion

I'm planning to get THIS SYSTEM. How likely would you recommend it? and can you please explain more about the Channel issue you had? what's the downsize of keeping it horizontally? how easy is it to turn it vertically? And since it comes with a Pressure Gauge, should i need a flush kit? because they say you can flush it manually??
I really need to make my decision fast because i already told my LFS to hold a RO/DI system ($180 5stages 75GPD seperated vertical DI filter + flush kit, look like THIS ONE) for me before i know of FilterDirect. Any comments or experiences are GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't. I would get this one instead:
http://www.purewaterclub.com/catalog...roducts_id=167
Its cheaper. Its a 150gpd unit instead of 110. You may have issues trying to find 100gpd membranes.
All around the PWC uni would be a better buy. The only thing you may have to do to it is use a roll of teflon tape on it.
Channeling. When the unit is horizontal, the water flow will cut a channel through the resin, much like a river bed cutting a channel through the silt. The water then goes directly through the DI chamber instead of through the resin. When you turn the unit vertically, any DI resin falls back down in the "channel" and makes the DI do its job.
The pressure gauge tells you incoming pressure, thats all. Its to let you know whether you have proper pressure or not.
The flush kit is to flush the membranes and has nothing to do with the pressure. Its just way to help "clean" the RO membrane.
I would go with the PWC unit first, filter direct and then the LFS if if given a choice of order preference. Just remember if you back out on the LFS, they won't hold things in the future for you.

Why would you spend $132 on this :
http://cgi.ebay.com/AQUARIUM-RO-2DI-...742.m153.l1262
when you could get this for $50 less?
http://www.purewaterclub.com/catalog...roducts_id=161
Or this one (which is more efficient and produces 50% more a day..yes more is better with RODI, trust me)..
http://www.purewaterclub.com/catalog...roducts_id=163
Pretty much same units, the only difference you may have to put a little teflon tape on the threads on the cheaper unit... I don't see where I could justify spending the extra $50... but hey that's just me I guess....
