A few people have asked about seeing the video's when I am done.
FYI I finished the Truk video last night, now I have to start on the Palau video (but with the holidays coming I might not get to it for a while). The Truk video came out very good. I spent about 20 hours on it. I edited down five hours of tape to 51 minutes, including an introduction showing a few minutes of film from the actual attack taken from the US Navy planes (I got it from an old news reel). I use a high quality SONY digital editor and add appropriate music from CDs.
At the risk of hurting my arm patting myself on the back - In my opinion it came out very good. I have a good camera eye in taking the original scenes and put a lot of work into editing the sequences into a good logical and transitional order.
Anyway .... I could make a VHS copy (the original is digital - so copies are like first generation) and send it around. You could post here who is interested. I would mail it to the first person, who could then view it and mail it to the next, etc .. on down the line. That way I would not have to make a pile of tapes and your only cost would be mailing it to the next person on the list.
Does that sound doable? How many are interested? Of course I would need your addresses. If you are leary about posting that on the web for all the world to see - you can e-mail me:
