I have that Kent Aquadose (IV Dripper). Right now I'm dosing Buffer for Alk and Reef Advantage Calcium for Ca. I used to try and use kalk until I found a website with a calculator on how much of what to dose to raise my levels. Last time I looked in order to raise the Ca of 130 gal's of water from 400 to 450 takes 8 GALLONS of limewater (kalk). To raise that same ammount with the dry powder I use is 13 tsp. each dissolved in it's own cup of RO/DI water. 16 cups in a gallon so I can use a 1 gallon jug to dose the same ammount of calc into the water that would take me 8 gallons of kalk.

Now I'm not saying dump this in all at once, even though Seachem says thier product won't raise the Ph, I don't really trust it that much, though I can tell you that the ph of the water with thier product in it is not near the ph that kalk get's too!

Still, I feel a lot safer paying the extra money for the Reef Advantage than trying to use the cheap kalk, I'm not that advanced yet, and I constantly feared using kalk, when I was using it, I had the Ph meter in the water the whole time, even witht he IV dripper.

I also dose a small ammount of Iodine once in a while, not near what the manufacterer recommends though. I've tested for Iodine in my tank's water but never got any results other than 0, using the referance material supplied I did get a result with that... I read a thread though that Iodine in your tank converts to a form that cannot be tested for. So to be on the safe side, I dose about 5ml into the tank every other week, unless that week is the week of my water change for that month.

So far I've had pretty good luck, my coriline growth has exploded, it's getting to the point where I'm going to need to buy a razor scraper to get it off the front glass.

On a side note, my camera lense is comming today, so I hope to try it out tonight, hopefully I can get some nice close up shots finally.

I have a calcium reactor and dose occasionally (once a month?) with kalk (put a tablespoon in a beaker of water, stir it up and pour it in the topoff) After I "harvest" my xenia(cut them off at the base) I put two drops of tincture of iodine into the tank water (why? Cuz they got a bobo) Maybe it's my imagination but I think it speed's up regeneration (as if they needed any encouragement) Other than that, just daily doses of flake food for the fishes and an alternative dose of homemade blender mush, one cube, once a week.

In my propagation system I use homemade three part. One is calcium chloride, the other sodium carbonate, and an adjunct of magnesium sulfate.

I drip kalk using a IV dripper that I got from the hospital last time my father was in for a procedure. I asked them for it, got a weird look. I explained what I wanted it for and they gave it to me. After all I did pay for it! I attached it to a 4 gallon water jug that you'd use for camping. Works great. Save yourself alot of money and use pickling lime. I've been using it for almost 4 years. works great!
