who has experence with using spaflex

i am doing a plumbing job on the new tank and i have seen several products that are used for glueing this stuff together and want to know the do's and donts. i am going to be using 2" on the discharge of my closed loop running on an ampmaster. if things go south i could have an empty tank and a huge mess before i could even do anything. i am thinking about using ips's weldon #795. i have always had great luck with thier products so it seems like good stuff. i also dont know if you use primer with spaflex and if there is a diffrence? any and all advice and experences/horror stories will be greatly apreciated>>>>

red hot blue glue, or weld on 795 or similar is the kind of glue you should use.

the plasticizers in the flex pvc can make for weak solvent bonds if not plumbed relaxed. thats why glues designed for use with flex have more solids in them

If you are comfortable with plumbing and understand how spaflex works and the tricks it takes to truly get seated flush in the fittings and let the bends in the pipe work for you......regular primer and pvc cement are fine and will hold forever and not leak. but again......spaflex doesnt like to sit flush unless you know how to make the bends work for you and plumb with a relaxed fit and many people end up with microbubbles from a cls joint or two on their first flex plumb job

I think your notion of weld on 795 is a good call

I am a spa repairman, I would use Christy's Red Hot and a purple primer. At the very least use a glue that says for use in wet areas it will be a blue colored glue. Do not use a clear glue when using a flexible pvc pipe. Be sure to push it in all the way, twist the pipe into the fitting and like was said before pay attention to which direction the curve goes and don't try to fight it.

I plumbed by sump with spa flex and used gorilla pvc glue; manufacturer states it's a combo primer/glue. No leaks from day 1. Up for four months. One thing I did find out the spa flex goes into the fitting more after the glue is applied which creates "shrink" so plan your cuts accordingly.

Home depot or Ace Hardware. Good point about the pipe fitting in farther when there is glue on it. Trust your measurements. it won't fit right 'till it's glued

United pipe and supply sells a glue made by IPS it is specificlly made for flexible pvc I am a plumber and from my own experience I know you are not supposed to use anything but glue for flexible pvc on spa flex. christys red hot , weld on all those are not rated for spa flex IMO I would find the right glue and do it right the first time.

Well after reading the last item I went out to the garage and found a couple of cans of pvc glue. The stuff from ACE Hardware does not specifically say it can be used for flex so I will not use it again (but I have used it many times over the past years fixing hundreds of hottubs and have never had a problem.
The glue I use most often Christy's Red Hot Blue Glue says "for all pipe schedules and classes" and specifically includes Flex PVC. It costs a little bit more but works great. If you use it in an area while it is hot outside make note that it sets up VERY quickly. On a down side it does not give you that "high" feeling when using it indoors ooops did I say that
