Who has a blue throat trigger?

So I want some different fish in my new tank, and I am really looking at getting a pair of blue throat triggers. What does eveyone think? It will be a 150 gallon reef with dominantly stony corals with a good amount of flow. Does anyone have success or other stories, and especially pictures!

Thanks,
Chris

They are technically "reef safe" meaning they should leave corals alone, but they may take out a shrimp or two. I never had them in a reef, but they are fairly docile and shy. If you like those check out sargasam triggers.

I want one so bad I can taste it, but I am afraid of what he would do to my shrimp and small fish

i have gone through 3 in as many months.

the first one would eat like crazy but i could not get rid of the internal parasite. the other two just would not eat for me. these are one of those fish whose longevity in the aquarium has to do with their handling before you get it. i will try again, but from yet a different supplier.

non of them harmed any of the fish or shrimp in the tank. they are totally interested in stuff in the water column. they could not care less if something is on the LR or substrate.

i definately would only get one if it is eating properly.

Geoff, where are you getting them from? I was considering having bluezoo put together my wishlist when I get the tank setup to get everything all at once. Do you mind sharing where you've tried so far?

Here's mine...

I've had him for several months now is great in my tank with corals and any other fish. He is one of only a couple that has survived the ick outbreak. Very hardy fellow.

dont mind at all. The bluethroat wasnt out enough.....he was skiddish and hid most of the time. My niger is is very social and out and interested in peopple whenever they are in the room.

I actually lost the bluethroat in a little accident I had last summer and replaced him with the niger. Ive only had one of each so my perception is based on only that much experience. YMMV
