white slime...

There's a white slime build up on my base rock. My tank is cycling right now, and I don't know if i should take a tooth brush and try to wipe some of it off, or just leave it?

You could use some saltwater in a bucket and clean it off real good. Are you running a skimmer or anything? I just left my lr alone during cycle but the only build up I ever had was a brown diatom bloom. That went away for the most part when cycle was over and the clean up crew took care of the rest.

It's probably just some left over critters on the LR that died during transit. Things like anemone's and such can look like white slime when they start to break down.

If it bothers you, you can suck it out of the tank.

It's early in the tank's life right now, wouldn't worry too much about it. If you still see it in a week or two, let us know.

Other people have said that it sounds like just die off collecting down there since there isn't much movement of the water. I think i'm going to try to brush it off and get it circulating and have my filter or skimmer take care of it. Or in the future my clean up crew should handle it i would think. Thanks for all of your help.
