White patches on toadstool?
I have a toadstool coral and have noticed lately it has white patches on it. I have been monitoring it for the last 1.5 weeks and have noticed it has progressed to the outer rim. Does anyone know what it is and is dying? I have been checking my water regularly and everything has been right where it should.

Welcome to TRT Divergirl
How long have you had the toadstool? It's possible it's shedding which is normal but it's hard to say with out a picture
I'm also going to move your thread to the General Reef Discussion forum for more input

I don't think the white patches would be a sign of normal shedding
Are the polyps extended at all?
I have "melted" a few leathers for no apparent reason

need pictures of the coral...white patches can sometimes just be self-propigation..fragging its self..or it could in fact be melting..hard to say without seeing the coral

A picture would help, but IME white patches with no polyp extension are not a good sign. You need to take a baster and gently squirt the coral( or a small power head) you just want to try and blow off any mucous coat buildup with out pressure washing the coral, if it sheds slimy mucous coat you may be OK, if big chunks come off, you have trouble, check for small hole indicatin some kind of boring parasite, carefully feel the coral and see if the head and or stem seem mushy.
Of its not too widespread a dip in Lugols or some aquarium Iodidne treatment ,may help, if its more than just small spots you may have to excise the bad areas with a scalpel or sharp exacto knife then do the Iodine dip

Mine had these, then it turned into holes. I did an Iodine dip everyother day for 3 total dips and it is as healthy now with no signs that the spots were ever there.

Dying Toadstool coral
I just did a iodine dip on my toadstool because it was brown and starting to shrivel badly. After I did the ioding dip it formed small bubbles...is this normal or a worse sign?

Welcome to trt
Any reason you dipped it? i would've just let it be and put slightly more flow on the leather. IME, that usually pulls a shriveled leather back to health.
