white encrusting

Ok, I have this stuff, it is a different texture than coraline, its really bumpy and white, growing over the coraline on a couple of my rocks, I will post a pic tomorrow, but was wondering what it may be, I know its not the coraline dying, its actually growing over it, I can scrape it off and the coraline is still under it but turning white. any suggestions??

if i am right it is sponge.
once i see the pic i wil be able to tell ya. if it is.. only way to kill it is to remove the LR for 30 mintues.. the sponge needs to be exposed to air. youwillhave to pick off as much as you can too( out of the tank!)

Could still be coraline or calcium.

I know its not sponge, its hard like coraline and its growing like the coraline its just not smooth like it, more of a rough surface to it. i didnt know if there was a white coraline or not, it started out as a couple of small spots and has grown to almost cover one whole rock now. the rock it all over is in complete light from the halides.

I can't think of the name right now but I know what you are talking about...They're tiny filter feeders and harmless.

edit: I say harmless but if they grow over your desirables like coraline ( did I say that? ), then they aren't so 'harmless'...just scrape them off and you'll be ok
