Which wall is your tank on?
My wife has decided to 'feng shui' the living room and there are particular walls where a tank should be to 'ensure prosperity' (prosperity?? with a reef tank?? ). I need to take the tank down for a day to install hardwood floors so I'm gonna be moving it to the 'proper' wall. So I was curious as to where other's tanks were situated. Which wall isn't the only criteria btw, the tank shouldn't directly face the front door, or a bathroom, etc. - you loose your beneficial chi that way. Whether I believe in it or not, it makes my wife happy and maybe I can get the sump/refug I've been drooling about as a compromise...

It's only gonna take you a day to install hardwoods?? This, I gotta see. (Or are you not having to stain and seal?) My father-in-law remodeled their home and installed new hardwoods from scratch...and it took a lot longer than that!
We have two tanks, but I just listed the main one. Prosperity, eh? Well, you'll have to let us know the idea place to put them.
Not that some of us have any choice... um, that's a >6' bare wall, with power access and backing up to a closet with a bathroom nearby... Yep, the tank will fit there.
Have fun moving it!

hardwoods
Mrs S,
it's less than 400 sqft - one room in a small condo, engineered wood (no staining etc.) and professional's are installing. The same company did my buddies place in one day - so I've got my fingers crossed.
I will get back with the recommended place for the tank, but I wanted to see where it most are first

I guess mine is on the South wall, but it's actually in the middle part of the house. It's there because of a load bearing wall and I didn't feel like putting supports under the house. But the Front faces North. Hey wait, so does my prop tanks in the garage. Well they actually face north and south.

That is one of the more unique quesstions, We put our tanks where they fit and would hopefull not go thru the floor. In our house we try to put the tanks so that we can see them the most often. HTH

What if you have a square tank in the middle of your house, and not against a wall? I don't have one, but just figured that could be an option. You could also have a tank built into a wall with a view from both sides. How would you decide which way it was facing then?

I agree with previous post. a load bearing wall would insure prosperity maybe not 'feng shui' . but it will definetly help with
insurance shui' .

Mine is on an east wall so it actually faces westish. It was the available wall that has a breezeway behind it. Shirley Iswear one day I will move it out there and do an inwall. actually i am putting in block and building the outside wall soon, before we repaint the house so WHEN it gets done it will at least match

uurt,
good news on the shrooms. I already know where the tank is gonna go, I just didn't want to give away the answer right away!
To everyone else...according to the feng shui experts (drum roll puhleaze)...for prosperity you tank should be situated on the North, South or South East wall. That said, I think everyone puts thier tank(s) where they fit and where it is safest (load bearing wall, across the joists, etc.). As far as feng shui goes, well let's just say that if you have a tank at all, you are probably getting lots of beneficial 'chi' just staring at it
My tank is currently on the west wall 'oooh bad chi, I am sooooo scared', and I will 'probably' be moving it to the north wall as long as it's not too much trouble from an electric standpoint. the main socket there is:
1. not gfci - no prob, I have a replacement, just needs installed.
2. light switch activated - ooh bad, don't know how much trouble that will be, gotta call the electrician friend

Hi again...
I plan to put my tank in my living room, in back of my couch. I have a large living room, and my house has concrete floors. I figure it will be visible from all areas of my living room and dining room.
