Which silicone to buy?

I picked up some GE Silicone I window/door (color = white). It does not say anything about mildew resistance, where as the GE Silicone I kitchen/bath does mention midlew resistance. Is this stuff I bought reef safe after a 24 hour cure? Thanks!!!

after spending an hour browsing through the different types of silicone at my local home depot, i didn't feel like taking a risk, and went to the LFS and got some silicone labelled as aquarium safe. the tube is smaller, and more expensive, but i did not feel like gambling

but... that's just me

forgive me for forgetting the brand of the stuff (haven't needed to silicone anything for quite some time) but the stuff I use comes in a white bottle with green writing and it just says SILICONE in large writing and comes in white and clear, says on the side in the small print that it is aquarium safe

Chris - that's the right stuff (GE silicone 1 for windows/doors). I used it for my 30 gal tank and will do the same for my 90. Stay away from the bath and kitchen stuff.

Thanks for all the repsonses. Looks like I got the right stuff. I was thinking of using it on the bottom of my starboard, but it doesnt stick very well. I think I may just lay it on the bottom without sealing it to anything.

If you do that, then detritus will get under the starboard and be impossible to remove. Maybe someone who uses starboard has a tip on how to make it stick.

Well Geoff recommended placing the starboard down, then putting silicone around the edge on the glass creating a seal. BUT, I dont want to put it on the glass. I've been running that way in my 58 without too much trouble, and I was only going to put some silicone on the starboard if it would stick to it, creating a small gasket around the bottom. But since it pretty much peals right off, I think I'll take my chances. Thanks, though, hng!

can you get a very small bead going around the inside of the tank, so it hides under the trim of the tank?

I could, but I had the starboard cut pretty small compared to the dimensions of the tank (maybe a little over an 1" of space between the starboard edge and the side of the tank). I'm afraid it would show, and probably not well (my work caulking is somewhat suspect!).

If I end up having troubles, I don't mind doing the work to make it right. I'm having minimal rock in the tank, so it wouldnt be that huge of an effort. Unless someone has an idea of how to create a gasket to stick to the starboard...?
