which sandbed cleaners and how many for my 180..

Ok, anyone that has been on TRT in the last day has read my sandbed whining...If you read the later posts on that sandbed thread, you can see what I have decided to do for now.... so can you all help me with which sandbed cleaners are the best and most effective? ... How many of each for my 180 gallon...I want to get enough that the sandbed in its present state can be kept as clean as it can...and where is the best and least expensive place to get these?

thanks so much!

My 02

Newer sand beds tend to be "ugly" and most of the std CUC isn't going to help with that ... its one of those maturity things that cures itself as the tank gets older.

Best sand cleaners tend to be the infauna & critters that many never focus on .. the pods, bristle worms etc that tend to come with time.

I suggest you go "light" on your clean up crew and see what works in your tank .. diversity and patience seems to be more important that quantity.

Thanks Geoff and Kevin...

don't worry, Geoff... I had just had a really bad day yesterday and I tend to freak out about things at first and then settle down and actually THINK about the problem and what to do about it... I am a woman you know...LOL

I just placed an order atwww.reefscavengers.com for a bunch of ceriths, nassarius and even treated myself to some rics and shrooms...had to make mysself feel better somehow...lol

Kevin... on the contrary... my tank has been up 3 months and the sand is white as can be...... I seeded it really well with sand from my 3 year old 29 and I never really even had a cycle OR much of a diatom bloom...it is just the depth that I was freaking out about and what it would hold for the future success of my tank
