which pump do you think should run skimmer?

will the iwaki push the skimmer enough and would the genx be too much for the overflows to handle?

thanks for the help, dorian

Both pumps would probably need to be cut back a little... THough I'd use the Gen-x for the return, and the waki for the skimmer

thats what i was thinking. if i T-off the genx pump for flow to the refugium and run a squid on the return split into 4 or 6 outlets- it should be just about right. thanks

what size are your drains?

i would go Gen-X skimmer and the iwaki for the return.

it is better to have more water going through the skimmer than through the sump.

my guess is prolly 1" drains to each is rated to about 600gph. that is about 1200gph total sump flow allowed.

definately go with the Iwaki for the return. that puts the return at about 1000gph assuming your sump is right below your tank and ther is about 4' of head to the tank.
