Which order should i add my fish......
Ok here is my plan......
Let me know what you guys think of it. Is this to many fish for my tank? I have a 72 gallon bowfront, 110lbs of LR, DIY skimmer(works great!!). Right now I have a small Tomato Clown, and a Maroon Clown, the rock will be rearranged soon.
Sand sifting or shrimp gobie,
Cleaner Shrimp two of them,
LMB,
Yellow Head jawfish (maybe),
Fire Fish,
Green or Spotted Mandrain (maybe),
2 or 3 Chromis,
Sailfin or Blue Tang,
I wont be buying any fish till after christmas. I dont think my tank is able to keep a mandrian so thats a maybe. The jawfish i like them but i will be having a sand bed that is only 1 in deep max and i heard they need a lot of sand.
Thanks,
Tim

Agreed on the tomato. I would not worry about the Jawfish though. He will probably move enough sand into one area. You can also incorporate PVC pipe in the LR to make tunnels for him. A deeper SB would be better though.

I dont want to go to deep with the sand bed. At the most 1.5" The PVC pipe under the LR to make tunnels would be kinda cool. I will think about that before i add the sand after i get my CC out. The one im worried about is the mandrian i dont think he will survive in my tank. I dont know if i could get him to eat frozen foods or pelets or anything. I dont have "pods" in my tank i think thats what they are called.

Tomato clowns can get big and mean but I like them. I don't think I would ever get rid of mine, He not real bad right now. He is the king of the tank.

Well im going to keep the clowns that i have right now. I will start adding my new fish that i buy and see what happens. If they start fighting i will have to trade them in i will, but if they are going to get along i will keep them both.
Almost 1 year after setting up this tank and its like i am starting all over again with a new set of fish, and doing things right this time.

I know how you feel Tim, I'm doing the same thing. I've had a tomato clown pair for three years and they spawned in the tank several times, but they have just about gotten to me. They are mean and belligerent and trying to aquascape with them around......you wouldn't believe how big of a rock they can move, and poor corals don't stand much of a chance. The constantly attack my hands when I have them in the tank, and while it doesn't hurt, it surprises me when I'm concentratin on coral placement. The female is the biggest fish in the tank, bigger than the tangs I've had just as long! And speaking of them, a yellow and sailfin, they picked a Wellsophyllia until it shrunk up so small, I put it in a 70 and it's gigantic again. They make me so mad. They're all going. I'll replace them with a pair of true percs and some small schoolers of some kind.

Don't know much about Jawfish...but (other than the tang and the clown) the rest all sound pretty passive (from what I know), so I don't really see any specific order. Other than I'm with everyone else on the Clown...if you decide to get him, HE should go close to last.
Also, just based on pod population requirements, I'd had the Mandarin last as well (maybe right before the clown)
wow...I guess I do have an order I'd recommend. hahaha
here ya' go:
1. Cleaner Shrimp two of them,
2. Fire Fish (these guys are big whimps, but I still love 'em. The earlier, the better)
3.a LMB
3.b Sand sifting or shrimp gobie, (I'd add both simultaneously, not sure why)
(I'd wait a while in between here)
4. Green or Spotted Mandrain (maybe),
5. 2 or 3 Chromis,
6. Sailfin or Blue Tang (I recommend the blue tang...I really like them! hahaha0
(no clue) ???? Yellow Head jawfish (maybe),
also...that's a BIT on the heavy load side. If you're keeping softies or LPS, probably not that big a deal. But if you're keeping SPS's, I'd drop the Chromis and maybe one of the gobies. Try to stick to 6 or less total fish. Chromis are PIGGIES too! ANd the more they eat, the more they'll poop!

The jawfish are jumpers so make sure your tank is covered. They will require "rubble" you can buy a bag of coral rubble and pour it into the tank in one spot. They will spend hours making a well for themselves to hide in. They will also dig under rockwork..so make sure your rock is sitting firmly on the bottom. They are amazing additions to the tank and their personalities are amazing. I agree with the others on the clown...they become vicious. I have a pair of Maroon gold bar clowns and they have moved and deposited my prized corals in unbelievable places. I have seen them flip 1 to 1 1/2 lb corals. They also nip, not a painful nip but startling, and when you are trying to place your amazing Cali Tort in a specific spot and are bitten....you drop what your holding, and not allways where you can find it. Try a wrasse. A Scotts Fairy or an Exquisit are amazing colored and very docile. I would do a wrasse before the chromis. More bang for your buck

Lots of info on the web about suitable tanks for various fish ... liveaquaria.com and marinedepotlive.com are two convenient sites to find out info about minimum tank sizes for various fish.
I don't think a new tank is suitable for Mandarins ... they tend to be pod eaters and that generally means mature and large tank. Tangs tend to prefer mature and large tanks since they like to constantly browse for algae and tend to need more swimming room ... I doubt the sailfin would do well in your size tank .. the blue tang may do better but I would hold off until your tank matures.
