I was torn between dark blue and black. Right now I have a med blue and have always thought I would like it just a little darker. Ive some tanks with black backgrounds and have always thought how nice they look. I think darker backgrounds bring out the colors of your fish corals and rocks.

I actually took a picture from one of my dives off of Miami to the paint store and had them match the background. Pic was taken in about 15 feet of water. Looked fantastic (until the coraline completely covered the back of the tank)

I think the black really shows off the corals better.

Black makes the tank look very dark. If I could do it again, I would paint light blue.

i like dark blue, it will look lighter when it is set up and sometimes it will fade a bit, so i go with dark blue. i don't like black and i hate when you can see the wires and tubes thru the back glass. i'll even vote "cheap plastic picture" background over none. lol

i do not have the problem with seeing wires or tubing everything is plumed under the tank. so i would have to vote clear in time it will be covered with coraline algae anyway.

I think it depends on what you have in the tank. If you have any black or real dark colored fish, I would say paint it blue. If not, black would be my choice. It really makes the other colors stand out.

I personally like the dark blue better. I have had black...and after corraline covered it..it didnt really matter. But I love the blue that I have now......make me feel like im looking into the ocean. Check out my avatar....thats the blue I put on.

I have a background that has light blue and black on either side and I've tried both. Light blue is better to me; the black makes the tank look too dark.

I like black tinted glass. If I was gonna paint it it would depend on what was in the tank and where the tank was . My 15g was set up with no back round because I wanted to see through it . In time the back will be covered anyway if left alone .
