where to buy online?

Hi all, love the site

I have a quick question about my new tank....I'm in the process of cycling it and want to upgrade my lights while I'm waiting. I have a 75 gal tank and want to buy a retro kit with 2 250w MH and 2 VHO. Anyone know of any good websites or brand names out there? How about other online marine suppliers?

Hi Sandy and...

...to The Reef Tank.

I buy almost everything from Premium Aquatics. They have the best prices and first class service to go with it.

Hi Sandy and Welcome to TRT!

Like Rick said, you just can't go wrong with Premium Aquatics (PA) for livestock or hard goods.

Also, check out our other sponors at: http://www.thereeftank.com/sponsors

They are all highly respected reefing businesses.

For respected brand names:
Lighting: Ice Cap, PFO (ballasts); Iwasaki, Ushio, Hamilton, URI (bulbs); Mag, dolphin (pumps); maxi-jet for powerheads; ebo-jager for heaters. I'm sure there are some I forgot

HTH...and glad you like the site!

Hi Sandy and a big Reef Tank Welcome
What lighting do you have now and how handy are you. I have a 75 with 4x110 w VHO and want to upgrade to a pair of 250w MH(prolly Iwasaki) in the near future

hiya Doug1!

I just have NO right now, duel 40 watts sitting on my tank and lighting up a couple of base rocks while my tank cycles. I am handy and decided slowly over the last four weeks to do the retrofit kit. I plan on building a hood approx 10-14 inches high to house the light fixture that fits on the tank. I want to keep the MH bout 7 inches off the water.

The thing I don't know is where and what kind to buy! I have no idea about brands out there or where to go. I'm kinda leary buying off a website I never heard of. I've been talking on the phone to marinedepot.com bout their retro's. They seem decent for customer support. The product seems ok, but then again, I have no basis to refrence my opinion

I'd just like to know a good brand and a good website before I jump in with a purchase like that

TIA!

Welcome

www.premiumaquatics.com and www.marinedepot.com are both very popular and won't do you wrong. HTH

Hi Sandy and WELCOME to TRT!!

I live about a half hour from PA (premium aquatics) and Jason and his employees are AWESOME and HONEST!

We get everything we can from PA. Jason answers his email, and that's the way I usually reach him quickest.

Welcome to The Reef (and sometimes FO ) Tank!

Customer service is very important with big money items, especially lighting retros where you might need some backup. Never ordered lighting from PA but I have talked to them on the phone about other stuff and they were pretty helpful.

For retros cheap (if that is a concern) and TOP NOTCH customer service, check out www.hellolights.com You will find that they get great reviews on the various boards.

WELCOME
I bought a bunch of snails from www.ffexpress.com. There prices are a little high compared to other mail order shops. Everything arrived alive. At about the same time several people on the board complained that there snail order all died, (not from ffexpress). So I guess you sometimes get what you pay for.

Hope this helps!
