Question

where to buy a 300gal tank???????

anyone have any ideas on where i can get a 300gal(or larger) tank?? i live in jersey and most the local stores either can`t egt them or charge a ton.. i used to have some web addresses but my comp crashed and i lost them. while i`m at it i`d like peoples opinions on what kind and how many lights to throw on it for a reef, keep in mind it`s 8ft long.. i`m thinking maybe 4-6MHs and 2VHO`s(actinics). just trying to get some ideas here.

I got mine from Aqua-Art in Ohio. They ship everywhere. I use 3 400 watt mh's, 2 6' actinic vho's and 4 2' actinic vho's. Check out my site for more info. Bob

Bob,

Nice sight and nice tank. Looks like you spent a fortune putting that baby together. I cringe at how much my 100 gallon has cost.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the compliment on my tank and site. It did cost a good chunk of change but not as bad as you think. I built the stand and hood myself. The sump and refugium are Rubbermaid containers that cost about $5 each. I already had most of the corals and fish. I used the sand from my old 125 to seed 400 lbs of cheap Home Depot sand. I sold my old tank and that money went toward the lighting. If I were to start from nothing then I would not be able to do it. Bob

Hey Bob;

Looks like you deserve mention in the "Scottish Reefer's Manual" that Doug and I have been writing up DIY is the way to go!

Nice tank and site!

Hi Alice,
Maybe I could write a chapter on what NOT to do . I'm in the middle of my next DIY project. It's an acrylic sump. I can't seem to get the glueing thing down. I keep getting pin holes at the seams.
Thanks for the compliment!
Bob
