Where do the fish go when they just dissapear???

Can anyone tell me why fish just seem to dissapear? Never even a fin floating....they are just there one minute and gone the next? Possibly blaming the serpent star I described in my other post...I don't know....what is the mystery here??????

Well there are several things that can happen:

1. The fish jumped out, and you may or may not find him later on the carpet somewhere.

2. The fish died and was consumed by the rest of the aquarium inhabitants, including your starfish. You'd be surprised how quickly a medium/small fish can be eaten.

3. The fish is still alive, and just hiding from view. Not usually, but it happens, especially with goby type fish that blend in alot or spend alot of time hiding naturally.

4. You may have a larger predator in the tank, though not usually.

It could be any number of these things.
