Where can I find a good guide on raising Anemone and Corals?

I'm new to this whole salt water thing and was wondering if someone could give me a few links to guides on what I need in my tank and how long I should have it and how to care for sea anemone and corals. Like how much light I need and what to feed them, how long my tank should be cycled first.

Before we can do that, you are going to need to give us some info about your tank. what are the dimensions: what type and how much flow. What type of lighting do you have and are you planning on replacing it if needed? How much is your budget if you need to make changes to meet the needs of keeping Nems?

I have a 29 gallon tank. With an Eclipse Filter with Bio Wheel. I have one Koralia power head blowing inside of my tank with a flow rate of 1500 L/H plus the filter is also letting the water flow out. The lights are only two T8 18 watt florescent bulbs and yes I am willing to replace as needed. Really I am a college student who has a part time job and the money is going into this hobby.

The tank has only been set up for going on two and a half weeks now so I know I have a long time to wait. Just wanted to read up.

your better off with just doing live rock and fish in that tank if you dont have the money to upgrade ...maybe you could try some hardy softies (zoas and shrooms) but i wouldn't try any lps or sps.

Just wait for Tom's new book. It should be coming out in the Spring. Right Tom?????

Seriously, your best sourse for up to date information will probably be right here. There are several good books out, like the 3 book set by Sprung and Delbeek. The problem is that the technology, and our understanding, in this hobby is improving so rapidly that books and articles become outdated very fast.

As far as anemones go, I think you should hold off for a while. Give your tank about a year to mature. Tanks go through growing pains just like teenagers and puberty. Then you can start with one of the more hardy species like BTA. This will also give you time to get a feel for how all this stuff works. Most anemones are among the most demanding critters we keep. There are many other very cool critters you can start with that are much easier to care for.
HTH.

Thanks I know I have awhile to wait just wanting to do research you know? What can I have in the tank I have listed above that Clownfish can get together with? I'm trying to start with clown and lawnmowers first.

Sounds like a great plan.
Look up hairy shrooms. They are a mushroom coral that looks very much like an anemone. They will split and multiply in the tank and most clown fish will treat a group of them as one large anemone. They are very easy to care for as well. You will still need to hold off on adding any animals, even fish, until after the initial nitrogen cycle is complete.

Will do, I recently was given a bottle of Purple Up which is supposed to help with the growth of Coralline algae. Is this good for my tank?
