Check out Marcorocks. They have a very porous rock. Its dry......and it will take time to become live. But eventually it will. You could get off with 200 bucks of rock.....that would give you 100lbs, and you would probably have some leftover.

Hi, It is definately a lot cheaper to make your own sump and you can make it to the size you want too. It depends on what size tank you want to have the sump on. Let me know exactly what size tank and i can help you with return pump and putting baffles in and maye a bubble trap too, if you want. It really sounds more complicated tan it is is. It's really so easy and pretty cheap to do it yourself. This is exactly how i made my sump, i didnt install the bulk head though i just made the bubble trap to seperate my skimmer area from my return pump area and trap the bubble so they didn't end up in my tank.

Just private messgae me if you want. I hope this helps.

The tank itself is 48"L x 23.5"H x 18"W

The one I was looking to use for the sump is 24"L x 12.5"W x 17"H
