Seen here in pics 119 and 120. I'm going to build a greenhouse type of room to enclose it and rip out my fireplace so the viewing window will be right in my living room wall.

When I build my house, I will be putting in an L shaped tank around 600-800 gallons with another 400 in sump and propagation tanks. 24-30" tall, 8' on each side and 30 to 36" deep. The corner will have a 3' miter with a large 4' deep "showcase" section. It will take up the corner of the room housing a fish room behind it. Skylight lit with backup MH lighting for winters/darker days. That's my dream "final" tank.
As of now I'm currently putting together my hobby dream tank (sig). I've always wanted a large 6' tank since I started and I finally have the room, time and money to throw it together.

I would really like something about 6' long x 6' wide x 3' deep with a center overflow for clear viewing on all sides. I want it smack in the middle of a room as to be the focus of everything. I'd also like a gigantic in-wall reef though. Don't know what I'd choose if I could only do one or the other.

350 to 400 gallon room divider with either low iron glass or acrlyic may be 6'x3'x3' with a wet room behind it or beside the MT. in the wet room will be a frag counter, frag tank, a refugium, all plumbed into the MT then a seperate 55 or so for hospital / isolation.
the tank would divide the living room and kitchen with a breakfast bar on one side to view while eating.
As for Equipment I would like to try some eco friendly thing such as sauna tube lighting, to cut down on the light bill, then MH 400 W x 3 and artinics (t-5 ho) eight 36" bulbs over driven with an Icecap ballest.
the Skimmer, kalk, calcuim and phosphate reactors I have to do some homework on but I would try to stick with one brand.
Pumps I would like a high volume pump that will not kill the power bill.
Chiller (if nessecary) probably 1/2 house power.
a large uv sterlizer.
As for tank flow I would like to design a closed system that is not visable from anywhere in the tank maybe feed from the bottom of the tank. for tank circulation.
all controled by Neptunes new controler (i forget the name at the moment.)
as for critters, Anthis many of them, Chromis a few of them, Yellow Tangs several, a few golbies, Maroone and Gold clowns (mated pair) Coral banded shrimp, Cleaner shrimp, A few Blennies, Six line wrass, maybe a few different types of tangs also.
as for corals I like LPS, and softies. I have not had any SPS yet so if I can learn to care for them properly then I would like to have them as well. I love Hammer and Anchor Corals. I also like leathers, xenia, zoas, and other simple creatures.
As for the Rock I like Tonga rock and Branchie stuff with lots of cracks and creveses. I would establish a wall or a couple of volcanos with bridged rocks (similar to my current design).
In the refugium I would like to experiment with different types of algea, IE red, and different types of green. I would also like a propigation tank where I could attempt to create an enviroment for mated pairs to, well,... mate.
under neath the tank would contain nothing... no bending down. The canopy would be fully accesable through either doors or have the whole panel liftup.
in the wet room would also be a computer for the tank keeping a log of critters and creatures, plus tank conditions, and journals, along with a small liberary of refference material. there would also be a fresh air intake from outside to keep a ph level ajusted.
that all for now

Nice ideas guys!
Jadinop that really is an awsome tank.
Ive always wanted a tank thats only about 20" high but extremely wide and long, like 8x8, so lighting wouldnt be bad and it would have so many aquascaping possibilities!

a built in pool turned reef with a greenhouse that has climate control and auto ventilation and humidity control I'd spend most of my time diving that thing... well maybe not as much time as I would spend in maintenance..LOL

Haha well it wouldnt be that hard with a portion of water that large there wont be much fluctuation and if you find algae then hey dive down take the rock out and throw it in your cooking bucket.. Not like thousands of pounds of rocks will be effected in look by 1 rock being removed haha

i always wanted a tank that looked like a vertical double helix with each landing having its own small ruble reef showing the variations of water depth.

My reef now is great, minus the hair algae and red slime algae I am having trouble with... In the future I want to upgrade to a 75 ish size tank so I can have a tang or two, and want T5's instead of PC's.

Mine would be a smaller scale of the main tank in Baltimore.A cylinder in the center of the house going up all three floors(so every room would see it)and the stairwell would go up around it!

The picture in 115 would be a sick in wall with a tank room behind it. Maybe build it into the garage and have your equipment in there. You would need one large mag float. I would like to have one like that.....nothing too insane. Maybe the half circle tank with just the ones viewing angel. Then build a nice looking rock structure with some depth.....run solar tubes over it and put solar panels on the house to power batteries just for the system. Try to make it completly off the grid, that way its not hurting reefs in the wild with all the wastes. Maybe keep a few tangs but nothing too much. And have it setup to my computer so I could just click a button and it performs a water change. That would be mine......sustainable self sufficient reef tank that just about takes care of itself. Nothing to do except sit back....have a cold one and enjoy.
