what WONT eat pods?

I was watching my arrowcrab today and noticed he bascially stands against the side of the tank with his back to the glass. He reaches back with two of his arms and feels around for pods that are too slow to get away. I got him as an interesting addition to the refugium but now I see his presence contradicts my efforts to provide a predation free zone. Im also starting to wonder about the coral banded shrimp in there.

What kind of inverts/fish can i feel confident in that they wont eat pods?

Can't think of too many fish or inverts that would pass up a tasty pod. Snails are the first that come to mind.

well maybe an arrowcrab is the best candidate then cuz the glass is just littered with crawly bugs. I have still yet to figure out what kind of organism are these things. Are these amphipods? Ive seen pics of supposed amphipod/copepods and they dont look like these guys. They are what you would call benthic? picture the tip of a sharp pencil broken off and 8-10 ladybug lookin legs walking the macro shoots, glass, bottom, bascially any surface. Ive tried getting a pic of them but they are just too small. Actually lemme try the new camphone on closeup mode,brb..

yea, theyre amphipods. Took some pics but cant find the cord right now. But i did find good pics of an amphipod and thats them

some herbivorous inhabitants would be nice, just so long as they dont compete with the pods for algae. That would be unlikely though eh

I think i might try to keep one or possibly wo SHs in there with a few non pod eaters. See how long I can keep everything in there happy by only adding drops of phytoplankton. I will figure out a balance eventually, but i think it can only consist of one Seahorse max cuz those wild ones ate all day. Would have to re-increase the amount of surface in there as well. I noticed before I took that huge mat of caluerpa out, along went all the pods to the other section.

Better yet ill do try this balance deal in the right chamber, if I can get that repopulated. Seems this section with mud and yellower light still has almost no pods. Wonder why that is. Time im sure will eventually repopulate it cuz I really dont htink theres anything in there eating them.

I wouldn't worry too much about the crab eating pods. Pods can number in the thousands and will reproduce faster than your shrimp or crab eat. Plus too many pods will crash eventually, because the food will run out quickly. So let your crab and shrimp be, the balance between the pods the food supply and the predator will be reached eventually, and you'll have a balance system. Phyroplancton is good but once a week is enough. In my fuge i've keep all my claw critters and in my display tank just snails.
