What to feed zebra eels??

I have been feeding my zebra eel for that past 1.5 yrs frozen shrimp from publix and fighting algae problem due to phophate.

Well, publix preserves the shrimp with phospate.

Any suggestions what to feed him?? I do not like krill b/c they are small and have to put on a stick. Then the other fish take it off b4 I get to the eel.

Do you live near the coast? If so you can buy live bait shrimp. You can also try crab meat, or lobster LOL.

You can rinse the publix shrimp if you have no other sourse for crustaceans. Most of the phosphate will wash off.

I think I will try to get live shrimp and then freeze them to feed individually. I have leftover squid as well from fishing and I doubt they preserve them either. Box say not safe for consumption

not recommended for zebra morays. zebra morays have teeth that are specifically designed for crushing crustaceans. this is what makes them probably the best eel to have in a mixed tank with smaller fish. they tend to not show much interest in fish unless very hungry. they do however show great interest in any kind of crustacean.

I had a zebra morray for a couple of years then donated it to a public aquarium when I lost interest. Geoff is right, they do have specialized teeth for crushing crustaceans,I fed it crayfish (in the shell) and frozen shrimp also in the shell.

The high fat content of goldfish makes them a poor choice for feeding any saltwater predator, not just the zebra eel.

Also feeding only one specific food will lead to eventual nutrient defficiences. A varied diet is the best way to go.
