What size skimmer?

I am looking at the ASM line of skimmers to go in a 54 with a 20 sump but am confused how big to get. Is a 2 big enough? I am so glad Marine Depot told me to go large with my Remora Pro on my last setup, but wonder just how much extra capacity to have.

I am still designing the sump and stand and have a couple of weeks to make sure enough height and clearance goes in before the saw begins spinning.

What kind of fish load do you plan? The G2 would be overkill for a light fish load, but if it proves to be too much you could always dial it back.

Pair of clowns, goby or blenny, cardinal, royal gramma and maybe one more little guy is pretty much it. This will be a reef with LPS setup this time around.

So go smaller then?

Marine Depot still has the EuroReef RS-80 Promos on sale for $178 and change. I purchased one before Christmas and its been pulling nog out of my 40g for weeks now. And all I have in the 40g is a pajama cardinal and a bunch of corals!

You probably don't need the G2,.. but the price is the same as the G1,.. If it were me I would probably go G2 and set it a little dry,... The good thing about getting a skimmer bigger than you need is you can always dial it back.

It's not just the fish that will feed the skimmer, remember all your corals will shed slime and other stuff adding to the organics in the tank. I f the the price is close, go with the larger Remember the MMR
