What salt do you use?
Hi Everyone I started a thread about my star fish and it quickly turned into a thread about salt. I've been using Oceanic salt and have had a problem with my calcium(500 -550) and Alk being high. I've chatted with a cpl of other members who say they have had the same problem. I was going to return a bucket of Oceanic for a bucket of Tropic Marine but last night a member told me if I go from Oceanic to Tropic Marine my tank my crash. He said that a few people have had that problem switching from Oceanic to TM. The three salts they carry are tm oceanic and coralife. They may have other salts in bags but I have never looked buckets are easier to carry on the subway. Let me know what you think of the three they carry and what you all use?
Thanks
Patrick
I'm not sure of my Alk reading I did the test a few nights ago and posted the results and I was told by members it was high but should come down on it's own

I've been using Red Sea coral pro salt...and I like it. The only problem is that it is more money then the others...by $10 more a bucket

wow John 2 great links I'm hoping thy have IO or CR even if they come in bags instead of buckets. I can pour them into the buckets to keep for the next use.

Thanks Bill and theplatypus
Bill I would give 10 bucks more for a better salt. I'm thinking it's one of those thing you either spend in the beginning or you spend more down the road.

I've used the big buckets of Kent Marine for several years, with no issues. It's what my LFS uses.

John 9 bucks to ship isn't bad and would be much easier than carring it on the subway!
