I agree, when I was recuperating from surgery a few years ago I had the salt buckets shipped. Was nice to have them delivered to my door! You might consider that - and if the Internet fish store has free shipping, order two buckets (smile)!

With all the local fish stores they have about 10+ different salts to choose from. I used Oceanic then I switched to Red Sea with no problem. The only reason I switched is Red Sea stated the salt was specially formulated for RO water. All salts maybe formulated for Ro, but this was the only one that said it on the bucket. I always had trouble with keeping my calicum and alk in check with Oceanic. After the switch is has been good for my tank. Steady Alk and Ca with very little additives except Kalk with auto top off and I add Alk builder once a week.

Yeah I think Oceanic is a calcium nightmare but that's just my opinion. What I plan on doing since I have to exchange this bucket for another batch of salt is seeing what all they have and choosing one of the ones the trt members have recommended then after that if I like it I will stick with it if not I will order another brand on line.

Print out the petsmart cupon online and take it into the store if transportation can be done, they will sell for online price for IO 31.99 for a bucket.

I have been using IO but after talking with Steaveweast (local reef master see www.oregonreef.com) i think i will be changing from now on. I will try a 50/50 mix of IO and oceanic to balance out the levels that they miss.
In another post Steve made a good point, regardless of which brand you use you should always test the newly mixed water before adding it to the tank. all salt mixes have a danger of ingreadents settling and then when you get to the bottom of the bucket you have massive levels of some things... just a thought.

Instant ocean/oceanic mix works well but it is hard to get it just right every time.
I use Instant Ocean and love it.
