I'm not an ebay fan for tanks. The membrane and filters are cheap and you wind up spending more on the first filter replacement than buying a decent one from the get go. You can find good units with quality filters and DOW filmtec membranes from the filter guys, melevs reef, spectrapure and air water and ice. Expect to pay about $160 for a good 5 stage with vertical DI...

I wouldn't recommend anything less than a true 4 stage, with 1 micron floss, .5 micron carbon, good quality membrane, good qulity easy to find DI resin. As for the plumming and canisters... They're cheap. All said and done, should be around $150, or about the same as some of the popular kits out there. Check our sponsors page.

I also am searching for an ro/di unit. That pic above, that is huge! This needs to go under my kitchen sink, correct? That would never fit....Any suggestions?

I went to that website above, this looks interesting.
But what is this?

It says this.
Please take a close look at out hardware it's all the very best AND it is quick connect.
No wrenches, tape, glue or pipe dope needed just push -in.
Not a cheap metal strap supply valve, a solid top notch supply valve.
I don't get how this gets attached, it says 'push in'?
Thanks

You want to stay away from the horizontal cartridges as they expend the media at the bottom and allow water to pass through the expended media while the upper media is still good.

And the "very best" part is clearly false advertising

Mine's in the Laundry room/ mud room. That way I can fill a trash can for water changes without it being in the living space.

I have the Typhoon III from airwaterice, and love it. I want to add a storage tank in the future.
The stuff in the lower picture (clockwise from top left) saddle valve to attach to your drain pipe, a piercing valve to connect to your water supply, a spigot to dispense water, and a ball valve to turn off your water flow.
The "push in" is for the 1/4" tubing. It pushes into the fittings on the valves and locks in place. The "very best" I suppose is how they're describing their parts.
I also mounted mine in the laundry room for the same reasons as Lutrah.

The ones mentioned above are all good. If I was a die-hard I would grab a piggyback sprectrapure, but I don't think it's $200 better than the filterguys piggyback unit. I've been running a unit from melev for the better part of 5 years... Although his price went up $20 since then

Some of the RO/DI units on Ebay are very popular and you don't hear people complaining about them. From my perspective zero TDS at low cost beats zero TDS at a high cost anyday.
