What is the best way to "upgrade" from a 75 gallon to a 100/110 gallon tank?

Hi - first time here.

We have a 75 gallon saltwater/reef tank. Standard glass - not drilled; 48"L. Nothing special. Have 350W MH & 400 VHO above the tank now - also 48" long.

My question comes to you because we want to "upgrade" to a larger tank but don't want to kill everything we have in the process.

We have a madarin goby, Arfrican Clarkie Clown, Foxface, Powder Blue Tang, lawnmower blenny, strawberry psedo., some mushrooms, small gonapora, blue clam (cronea), red legs, rose anemone, a few snails, a cleaner shrimp, some nasty bristle worms (yuk), about 80 or so lbs of live rock and a 2" live argonate sandbed.

All occupance are happy - been established for a year & 1/2 or so now.

We want to use the same lights & a new DIY stand for the new tank. We will get more live rock, a larger sump, new skimmer & of course the tank.

The catch is - we want to put the new tank right where the existing one is - it's the only real good place for it in our house.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Also - deep sandbed or no sand bed??? which is more widely thought of as "the best" these days?

thanks - if I posted this on the wrong board I am very sorry.

I'd advise that you get the largest tank you can afford so you won't have to upgrade again in a few months. I'm hoping for my next one to be in the 8 ft long range and ~300-500 gallons. We're waiting to get rich and move back to FL.

Welcome,
one thing you could do is get a few extralarge tots with NO little feet. use this to cure the new LR, and the other to keep the corals and LR you have when it is time to mve everything. as long as you have new cured LR the tank and stand ready and a bunch of towels ready in case you should be fine.
the DSB or not is a on going thing here.. some are now going BB ( bare bottom)
if you do run a DSB in a few years you will have to replace it.
take a look in the think tank and you will see a bunch of threads on DSB's and BB.
