I used IO but recently switched to RC. If you are going do dose mag, kh and Ca then I don't think RC is worth thee extra money then. I used to have a link to the mineral content of all the salts but I lost it.

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

I use IO when I can find a deal on it. I usually buy a bucket or 2 and have them handy. A good salt on the cheap is Coralife salt. basically if you stick with a decent known name salt then you will be good to go.

I dug myself a hole when I first started up, nobody told me IO had a severe Mg deficiency, as a noob I knew nothing about it. I just went with it, figuring popular product = no worries. A couple months later, when I couldn't keep my pH above 8, I figured out the Mg thing and started supplementing.
I recently switched to Coralife after getting a couple buckets for $40 each from Petsmart. So far everything is good, I may be a Coralife man now. Can't beat a decent salt for $40 a bucket.

People think I am full of crap when I tell them Coralife is a good salt... finally someone else agrees
It's actually one of the most balanced salts on the market.

You're the guy who's advice prompted me to try it. My corals are bangin, and I don't need to supplement it, beats IO on price and content IMO.
So, thanks Tony!

I use Tropic Marin Pro Reef. Yes, it's expensive, but it works for me and I never have to dose anything.

I use IO... The guy at my LFS said he uses it so he can more control what gets put in his tank... ie dosing Ca, Mg etc... Made sense to me so I use that and dose Ca, Mg... Didn't know about the low ph thing but come to think of it I had a low ph... and since I've been dosing no more... Ha!

There is no "best", everyone's had different experience. I use reef crystals myself, but mostly due to price.
