what is everyone running for a return pump???
I have a 1800 gph mag drive now....it just dosent push the water out like I want...I have a 3600 gph mag coming is that to much? the tank is recommended at 2400 but I think we can get alot better flow and cleaner with 3600?

Of course, there has been a lot of discussion about GPH through your sump and matching your skimmer and all that. I've started a few threads and polls on it before. Running 3600GPH through your sump may be way overkill and could suck your microbubbles from your skimmer right into your tank. If you really want water movement, run a CLS or powerheads. You'll be alright with the 3600GPH throttled back a bit with a ball valve but it's still a lot of water through your sump.

mine just dosen't have much flow with the 1800 I figured with double that it will run through the sum twice as much and clean it better?

Are you running anything else for flow? Powerheads or CLS? I wouldn't depend on your returns for your total flow in the tank. It's just doesn't really work. I was going to do the same thing with my sump but realized it wasn't the best idea. That 3600GPH pump would be great for a CLS but overkill for your return.

Wow, you've already got 50x/hour in your tank. You still think you don't have enough flow? I didn't realize you had a 210. That 3600GPH should be good throttled back to what your overflows can handle. You said 2400GPH. What kind of skimmer are you running? Some people believe in matching their return with their skimmer rate. I started the thread/poll above to see how many people actually do that.

Also, if you're wanting cleaner, a bigger skimmer is the ticket, not more GPH through the sump. As long as your return is at least what your skimmer rate is.

the flow rate on the skimmers are 500gph? so the 3600 return is way to big looks like?

Ya, just check out that thread I posted. There are people on there running 3600GPH through their sump with a 1800GPH skimmer. Probably be fine and add some more flow to your tank. I personally don't try matching my return and skim rates.

ditto or even an Iwaki 100 and two eductors on the outlets. that will give you more flow than you could ever want. it would not surprise me with an Iwaki 100, you could get over 6000gph out of that pump using eductors. if this is to much than an Iwaki 70 would be less, prolly closer to 3000gph with the eductors.
