What Is Distilled Water?

What is distilled water and can it be used on the reef?

Basically its water that has been boiled and the water vapor has been condensed back into water. In the process the impurities are left behind. Yes, it can be used in a tank.

One disadvantage of distilled water is that it has very little disolved oxygen. Might be a good idea to agitate good(with a power head) before putting in you tank

One disadvantage of distilled water is that it has very little disolved oxygen.

That is a myth. O2 is a function of barometeric pressure ( in. Hg or altitude), partial pressure (pO2), Salinity (TDS) and temp.

No, gases, O2, CO2 or others do not show up on TDS meters, they have no electrical conductivity. However, CO2 can mix with the water to produce HCO3-, which can show up on a EC meter as part of the TDS reading.
