I'm kinda bumping this cuz I'm curious about them too... I'm going to be getting one in a few months from a club member. Do they sting other corals? Who can they be near, who should they be far away from? Details and pics please!

You glue animals to rocks and keep them in glass houses, why would you need therapy , you seem fine to me

By the way they do have short sweeper tentacles that come out at night. They will sting other corals but they are rather short compared to other corals sweeper tentacles.

Theres 2 kinds of blasto's. 1 is Merletti which has smaller polyps (about dime sized) and is easier to take care of. It's usually the color of that one pictured (which says it's a Wellsi but looks like a Merletti to me lol hard to tell polyp size). I have seen green Merletti also.
Then theres the Wellsi which have bigger polyps (about quarter sized) and seem harder to keep than Merletti. They seem to have problems in shipping and can perish easily after buying them even though they look good at first. It's best if your getting one at an LFS to watch for awhile before purchasing or better yet from a fellow reefer who's had it for awhile.
They come in many colors including purple, green, red, blue, or a variety of those and like lower light and flow usually.
They can be fed also.
I've read of people having more success with a Wellsi if they put it in a fuge when they first get it but never tried.
They may get small sweepers but whenever my blastos had a tiff with another coral the blastos lost.

I've had VERY good luck with my Wellsi. I've got it uder a ledge, so it's almost in full shade near the bottom of the tank. I fragged 3 babies a while back and they've grown up and had thier own. Here's an old pic from when I first got it. I'll try to take a new one, it looks MUCH better now.

I don't know what kind I'll be getting, all I know is it fluoresces like my trumpet, and that's always good in my book!

I've always thought of them as a cross between a trumpet and a zoa.
Really neat little guys. Want to get some, but right now...they seem to be a little "Trendy" in the pricing aspect.

My Blasto Merletti lost it's pink color under low light, now it's brown as many corals. Now placed it in the sunny place in hope for recovery (sunlit nano).
