What is 2-part???
Danyen suggested I start dosing w/ 2-part a few weeks ago when my xenia was on the brink of death (most of it had already died). I started using nano reef 2-part and it was like my tank came to life.....it was crazy. within a week all the coral was puffy and happy....you could actually see them smiling. What exactly is 2-part, should it be a temporary thing or long term??
OK....the smiling thing may be an exaggeration....but I think it got my point across

I'm not sure on what is in that specific product. It should say list the ingredients. I would assume it's a mixture of trace elements.
For the most part the "2-part" referred to is sodium bicarbonate and calcium chloride; each one being a part of calcium carbonate -- what our corals create to build their skeletons.

Basically it's CA and ALK some products include trace elements as well. I used to use it,.. I would test every day, and dose my tank back to the numbers I was looking for (at the time 9Dkh and 420 PPM CA) after about a week and a half I found I was dosing about the same ammount each day, so I kept dosing that ammount daily and started testing weekly to make up for any small differences.

What I would have answered, they separate the two parts so they can get the concentration of the alk and calcium up in the supplement. Mixed together, the calcium would precipitate into a brick in the presence of all that alkainity, so they keep them separately in "two parts"... I went to the Kent Marine site, this product specifically is not listed there as of March 20, 2008...

I'm dosing every 2-3 days. I haven't tested cal/alk since I moved the tank to my office.
Should dosing be a regular thing, or just for a weeks at a time.
I'm still trying to figure out the science of reefing.......it can get very confusing.

It really depends on the demands of your tank,.. If dosing once a week is enough to keep it fairly stable (likely since yours is a Softie/LPS tank) then that is fine,.. If you have a SPS/Clam tank that drops from 10 Dkh to 6 Dkh in a single day then you need to be dosing like 3 times a day (and this is why I got the CA reactor)
Basically what you do is decide where you want your CA/Alk (I like 9Dkh and 420-430 PPM CA)
Then Measure and dose as needed to maintain those levels

What you need to do is take a set of readings to get a base line. Then with out adding anything you need to test around the same time the next day to see what your daily consumption is. I would do this several days to get a consistent reading. Once you do this you can see if you can see how many days you can go with out dosing.
