What have you had better experience with...
Shopping for corals and fish online, or shopping at your most trusted aquarium store?

WAY better luck online for fish. HD and Fosters and smith fish have a much higher chance of living past that first month that unfortunately hasnt been the case for me when shopping at LFS.
As far as corals. No preference........but it is more likely that I can find more unique or wanted corals online.

LFS,.. One near me Q's all there livestock for a month before it goes on display, they also get the fish eating. There slightly pricer but 99.99% of the time you get a healthy active eating fish.

Thats a great policy. Fish that are quarantined and watched like that are definitely worth more IMO.

I got monti eating nudis last weekend from the LFS with the most beautiful tanks and coral selection in Oregon.
There are some predators we have to deal with that you simply cant take for granted dont exist, as all reasonable precautions can be taken by the vendors, and it still isnt good enough.
Its our personal responsibility to go above and beyond making sure these pests dont make it into our display. Ive dealt with enough of the harder to deal with pests to know that if a vendor went to the lengths to guarantee these pests dont exist, they would have to charge double(or more) for coral livestock.

Drs. Foster and Smith have a 30 day arrive alive, stay alive , risk free guarantee...their corals come in excellent condition! I've had luck with their fish also. Their corals come mounted on plugs or rocklike discs which sometimes I find difficult to place, but you could allways frag them or break up the disc to fit your need...

Oops, should have added that the 30 day arrive alive, stay alive guarantee is for their certified captive grown corals....but I've done well with the regular corals, also.
